Roselle Park Soccer Club players participated in the first NJYS 4v4 Club Foundation Program this Saturday. This was a new experience for the players, their supporters and our Club. We are excited to take part in this 4 weeks of friendly competition.

The NJYS 4v4 Club Foundation Program is a series of sessions using the smallest version of the game in a space that allows young children to more easily understand and learn the game of soccer. The 4v4 game format makes learning and developing fun because players are constantly in close contact with the ball, which maximizes participation and engagement while accelerating skill acquisition and game intelligence of all players involved.

By using a pool of players rather than distinct teams, clubs can develop their “in-house” program by having everyone train and play through the NJYS 4v4 Club Foundation setup. This approach allows participants to train and play with a variety of other players based on numbers, ability, age, height, weight, etc. Formal games, referees and rosters are not needed at this age, so playing with and against teammates provides a flexible and fluid approach.
