The U8 Vision program is modeled on the US Youth Soccer player development initiatives. As stated in the USYS age appropriate curriculum, "players must spend the maximum time possible in contact with the ball and experiment by themselves". The emphasis of all training and games remains on fun, encouragement, and equal participation.
The U8 Vision program, for players born 2015/2016, follows the US Soccer U8 curriculum and utilizes professionally coaching for weekly practices and to oversee weekend games. The professional coaches and assistants will evaluate players throughout the season, making recommendations for team selection as players progress to the next U9 level.
This upcoming season we are excited to announce our partnership with European Football Coaching (EFC), a Cranford based coaching company providing high level soccer coaches throughout New Jersey. EFC coaches will be running all session of the U8 Vision program and will be a huge boost to our program!
Practice Format
One hour practice per week
Stations set up with a professional coach managing each station
Players rotate station every 12 minutes
End of practice small sided scrimmages
Each week follows the curriculum established by RPSC with focus on:
-Motor Skills, balance and coordination
-Ball control
-Passing
-Receiving
-Shooting
-Attacking 1 v 1
-Attacking 2 v 1
-Defending
Game Format
Players participate in 3 x 15 minute games with 5 minute break in between. The 4v4 format (no goalie), with 6 players grouped together as a “team” allows for more touches and empowers players to make decisions. Games are played on Saturdays.
